About Lux Lodge

A lodge built on the principles of excellence, education, and meaningful Masonic experience.

Our History

Lux Lodge N° 846 was chartered under the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of California with a singular vision: to create a Masonic lodge that embodies the highest ideals of the Craft through the European Concept model.

Founded by a group of dedicated Masons who sought something beyond the ordinary lodge experience, Lux Lodge was established to offer a space where quality, scholarship, and meaningful ritual take precedence. The name "Lux" — Latin for "Light" — reflects our commitment to illumination through knowledge and fellowship.

The European Concept

European Concept (EC) lodges represent a distinctive approach to Freemasonry that draws inspiration from the Continental European tradition. Key elements include:

  • Festive Boards Formal dining experiences that foster deep fellowship and meaningful conversation among brethren.
  • Education & Scholarship Regular lectures, papers, and discussions on Masonic philosophy, history, and symbolism.
  • Quality Over Quantity Smaller, intentional membership focused on engagement and commitment rather than numbers.
  • Elevated Ritual Meticulous attention to the beauty and precision of our degree work and stated meeting ceremonies.

Masonic Restoration Foundation

Lux Lodge is aligned with the principles championed by the Masonic Restoration Foundation (MRF), an organization dedicated to reinvigorating the Masonic experience through observant and traditional-observance lodge practices.

The MRF provides resources, guidance, and a network of like-minded lodges across North America that share our commitment to Masonic excellence and the belief that Freemasonry, practiced with intentionality, has the power to transform lives.
